New features in Squarespace include Duplicate and Save Sections ♡

One of my favorite newer features in Squarespace 7.1, including Classic Editor and Fluid Engine!

Introducing Saved Sections … for reusing sections throughout any page on your website! Besides being able to duplicate a section on a page, you can also save a section from one page to use on another page! Finally!

First, let’s talk about duplicating sections on the same page …..

Not as new as saved sections, but introduced along with the introduction of Squarespace 7.1. Duplicating a section is as easy as clicking the duplicate icon:

You can then use the up and down arrows to move your section anywhere on that page.

Note: Collection page sections can’t be duplicated. Blogs, events, portfolios, and store pages are all collection pages. To learn more, see the Squarespace article on Collection page sections.

When duplicating sections with newsletter and form blocks, you’ll need to re-add the storage options.

And finally, saving sections to use on any page!

No more recreating sections that you want to reuse on any of your web pages! It’s now so easy to add a section that you’ve already styled! Before this awesome new feature, you’d have to restyle that same section you wanted on another page, or you’d have to duplicate the page and then get rid of the sections you didn’t want. No more of that silliness!

To save a section, click the heart ♡ icon.

Then, to use that same section on another page, click on ADD SECTION and then choose Saved Sections. Click on the section you’d like to use. Styled section, ready to go!

To remove a section from your Saved Sections, click on the box in the top left corner of the section/s you’d like to remove, then click the trash icon at the bottom to delete from Saved Sections. This only removes the saved section and not the actual section.

Note for Saved Sections:

■ You can save up to 50 sections.

■ Saved sections aren't linked so they don’t update with any changes made.

■ Sections can’t be saved from collection pages or footers. It's also not possible to add a saved section to your footer.

■ For custom-coded sections, the saved section may not copy over the same, depending on how the section is coded.

■ If you are duplicating your entire site, it will unfortunately not duplicate your saved sections. Yet :)
(This would be ideal when creating templates.)

■ Since Squarespace 7.0 uses index pages and not sections, this feature is only available on Squarespace 7.1.
